Macaroni and Cheese! The kids love it, but it tends to be a very bland meal by itself. The great thing about it is the cost. Macaroni and cheese is at least one of the cheaper boxed meal ideas out there. So here is a way to make it even better!
Serves 4 Adults
2 boxes of Macaroni and Cheese
1 lb of ground beef
1/2 cup of chopped onion
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
1 cup of shredded cheese
1 cup of sour cream
Pepper to taste or your favorite seasonings
Follow the directions on the boxes of Macaroni and Cheese as normal. While noodles are cooking, brown ground beef with onion. Once macaroni and cheese is made completely, add ground beef with onion, cream of mushroom soup, cheese, sour cream and seasonings. Cook until heated thoroughly and shredded cheese is melted, stir often. Serve with your favorite veggie!
Add a can of mushrooms to make it more filling.
Use chicken and a can of cream of broccoli, or a can of cream of chicken instead of hamburger and cream of mushroom.
Create chili mac instead of stroganoff by using a can of fiesta cheese soup, a can of red beans (drained), a can of corn (drained), 3 tbs of chili powder and 1/2 cup of salsa.
If you have a can or two of chili add those to the macaroni and cheese with a little bit of shredded cheese.
Try adding a can of tuna, cream of mushroom soup and some shredded cheese to the macaroni and cheese.
Macaroni and cheese is a great additive for a spicy chili to help cool it down for your little ones. Add some sour cream to that to cool it down even more.
Instead of using ground beef, try meatballs instead! I like using the frozen ones you can buy at the store.
Try chicken, cream of chicken soup and some ranch dressing. Different but tasty! Some cut up tomato is also good with this.
